Hello, we are Joel and Amelia Chavez. We are both born in Mexico, though Amelia grew up in Canada.
Joel loves learning new things, especially about languages, technology and sports. He also enjoys using the things learnt to serve God and people. He has a degree as an environmental engineer and is excited about using his degree to help others, making connections so that he can then share with them the gospel and about God’s love. He is currently enrolled for his Theology Masters degree and is passionate about studying God’s word and sharing it, through bible studies, discipleship, and in everyday conversations.
Amelia would go on yearly mission trips with her family growing up, which is where her love for the country grew. In 2017, she returned to Mexico to help her sister start a ministry among the Tarahumara tribe in Chihuahua. She is passionate about working with the youth and young women, teaching them through discipleship, and hands on skills.
Joel and Amelia met in 2022 at a youth conference, and got married in 2024. Together they serve at Oaks of Righteousness ministry, where they teach in school, run a youth program, do one-on-one discipleship as well as run a Bible study. Their goal is to serve as a family wherever God calls them to, discipling, building relationships, and ultimately bringing people to Jesus.
